Behaviour Mentoring Service

Our Behaviour Mentoring Service provides structured, trauma-informed one-to-one support for children and young people exhibiting challenging, withdrawn, or high-risk behaviours. Delivered by trained Behaviour Mentors, this intervention focuses on early identification, consistent adult relationships, and emotional regulation strategies to build resilience and improve engagement.

Key Features:

Why Mentoring is Needed?

Demand for skilled mentoring support is increasing as schools, families, and services respond to rising behavioural, emotional, and mental health needs among children and young people. Early, trauma-informed mentoring provides a critical, relationship-based intervention that supports positive behaviour, engagement, and stability before challenges escalate.

Outcomes:

Who the service is for?

While primarily delivered to children and young people aged 7–18, Behaviour Mentoring may also be provided to vulnerable adults aged 19–21, and where appropriate up to 25, particularly within transition, housing, or social support contexts.

How it Works?

The Behaviour Mentoring Service is delivered through planned, one-to-one sessions that take place weekly in schools, homes, or community settings, depending on need and context. Mentors work consistently with each young person, using trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation, engagement, and personal development, while mentoring plans are co-produced and aligned with agreed educational or social care objectives.

During the pilot phase, this service is delivered on a limited basis, led directly by the Director to ensure consistency, quality, and effective evaluation.
