Empowa Pathways is founded and currently led by Brian Edwards, who brings over three decades of experience delivering, leading, and commissioning support across complex social, educational, and community settings.

During the pilot phase, services are delivered directly under his leadership, ensuring clear accountability, consistency, and quality.

Professional Background

Brian’s experience spans front-line grassroots delivery through to senior leadership and consultancy, working with children, young people, vulnerable adults, families, and professionals across a wide range of environments. His work has consistently focused on inclusion, engagement, behaviour, wellbeing, equality, safeguarding, and systems navigation.

He has operated within and alongside:

Education and alternative provision (including PRU settings)
Community and youth services
Housing and homelessness support
Social care–adjacent environments
Voluntary, charitable, and VCSE organisations
Corporate and commissioned service contexts

This breadth informs a practice that is grounded, adaptable, and responsive to real-world complexity.

He has delivered CPD and training to professionals across education, social, housing, and community sectors, combining lived practice insight with governance and compliance awareness.

Practice-Led Experience

Brian’s foundation is direct practice. He has worked extensively in front-line roles supporting individuals facing behavioural, emotional, social, and systemic challenges. This includes in-setting mentoring, outreach-based engagement, and work within high-risk or transitional environments.

This practice-led background ensures that service design & delivery remain realistic, ethical, and focused on outcomes rather than theory.

Empowa Pathways is led and built on this experience that spans the street, the classroom, the boardroom, and the training room—bringing these perspectives together to deliver meaningful, accountable support.

Pilot-Phase Leadership

During the Empowa Pathways pilot phased launch programme, Brian acts as Founder, Director, and service lead, providing a single point of accountability for partners and commissioners. This model allows for close collaboration, rapid learning, and direct evaluation, while maintaining clear professional boundaries and governance.

Learning from the pilot will inform future staffing, commissioning, and service expansion.
